COMMITTEE: Sunday School Director

GOALS & OBJECTIVES: To provide leadership in the Sunday school program involving the young people of the congregation in Christian Education and fellowship.

REPORTS TO: Christian Education Committee

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

• Plan, lead, direct and focus programs of education, nurture, service and fellowship for the children of St. Thomas.
• Involve the Sunday school teachers in planning the total work of the curriculum and the goals to be achieve.
• Help them to develop goals in their teaching.
• Assist teachers in lessons planning and construction.
• Annually determine the best organization for quality teaching and growth.
• Commit to start new units as opportunities arise.
• Identify, recruit and train lay adult volunteers to assist in the program.
• Energize the program and staff by being an advocate for this mission of the church.
• Support the teachers in their work and respond to their needs.
• Serve as an advocate for the staff.
• Provide the resources, equipment and training your teacher need.
• Develop with the Christian Education Committee a budget.
• Evaluate the progress against goals of the Sunday School to the Christian Education Committee.
• Report monthly the progress of the Sunday school to the Christian Education committee.
