COMMITTEE: Stewardship

 

GOALS & OBJECTIVES: To evoke and promote the expression of Christian faith in daily living; to teach the Christian use of money; and to lead all its members to higher levels of proportionate giving.

 

REPORTS TO: Council

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

  • Study the Scriptural principles regarding the total steward calling of the Christian and share these insights with congregation members.
  • Contact and encourage new members for service to the congregation.
  • Stir up the talents of present members of the congregation for use in Christ's work.
  • Provide opportunities for the development of talents, i.e. training courses, workshops, and the like.
  • Conduct an intensive program annually to confront every member personally with basic Biblical stewardship principles and practices.
  • Annually give every member an opportunity to make commitment of his treasure for Kingdom work through the congregation.
  • Initiate an annual preparation and presentation to the congregation of a God-pleasing work program determine anticipated receipts and recommend a budget for adoption by the Voter's Assembly.
  • Plan and recommend a year-round program of support for Lutheran World Relief.
  • Foster support for missions and charities through an ongoing program of mission information and education.
  • Evaluate the offerings of the congregation regularly, and share this evaluation with the members of the congregation.
  • To invite existing and new members of the church to support its ministry though planned giving.
  • Encourage stewardship programs in the societies and auxiliaries of the congregation.
  • Annually review the budgeting procedures of the congregation in conjunction with the Treasurer and Financial Secretary and recommend to the congregation any necessary improvements or revisions.
