RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

Position: Committee Chairperson

Reports To: Church Council

Responsibilities & Expectations:

• Provide leadership, direction and motivation for the group.
• In concert with the Time & Talents Coordinator, identify and recruit persons interested in, and able to, serve the ministry of the committee.
• Collaborate with members of the committee to establish goals and objectives for the ministry.
• Convene meetings to involve members in planning and execution activities required to meet the objectives of the ministry. Meetings should be held on a monthly basis unless members are in concurrence on a different schedule. Meeting dates are to be made available to the church secretary to be included on the monthly calendar and to secure a space for the meeting.
• Maintain minutes of meetings.
• Provide a monthly report of activities to the Church Council. This report is to be available to the church secretary and the council members the first Sunday of each month. If the committee has not met, the report should so state and include the date of the next meeting.
• Control spending within appropriate budget limits. Needs for an additional authorization must be presented to the Council along with justification for the request.
• Oversee and manage the preparation of the budget request for the year to follow to be available on the date set by the Finance Committee. This request will include; 1) a brief description of each major ministry/activity to be undertaken; 2) the cost of that ministry; & 3) the anticipated timing for actual expenditure of the funds.
• Provide a report summarizing the ministries/activities of the year to be included in the annual report to the congregation. Attend the annual meeting of the congregation to answer questions and support the ministry of the committee.
• Provide assistance and support to other ministries of the church as required for the "good of the order".
